THE Miss Cosmopolitan World (MCW) 2015 will be held for the first time in Malaysia as part of Tourism Malaysia’s ‘Year of Festivals 2015’.
Aspiring beauty queens will compete with contestants from 30 countries including Singapore, Taiwan, Mexico and England on Oct 9 in Kuala Lumpur.
According to MCW founder Amelia Liew, the main objective of the pageant is to create awareness of tourism in Malaysia.
“This year, the event will be held for the first time in Kuala Lumpur.
“We hope it will make a historic breakthrough in our beauty pageantry as contestants from all over the world will participate,” she said during a press conference at Automall in Persiaran Karpal Singh, Penang, recently.
Liew added that Penang would be one of the tourist locations to be visited by the contestants.
“The visit will coincide with the grand opening of the AutoMall on Oct 2.
“The international finalists will have special appearances and performances throughout the event from Oct 2 to Oct 4.
“They will bring their national costume here and everybody can have the opportunity to see them,” she said.
Liew hoped that the event could actually bring the world closer to Malaysia and also boost tourism in Penang.
“Each of them will be representing their own country,” said Liew.
Also present were Sungai Pinang assemblyman Lim Siew Khim, Afcar Auto Group managing director Benson Ooi and Zeon Properties CEO Leon Lee.
Registration for MCW is open until early July.
