SIBU: A motorist here is questioning why Sibu Municipal Council allows its refuse collection contractor to service the central business district of the town during the noon time rush hour.
The man, who wished to remain anonymous, said he was baffled why such thing could go on as it was certainly a bad timing on the part of the contractor.
“It is quite common to see garbage trucks doing their routine during the peak hours which caused unnecessary traffic jam,” he regretted.
A week ago, he saw one of the trucks at Raminway emptying rubbish bins oblivious to the traffic jam which it had caused as a result of its action.
“People were having their lunch break while parents were also rushing to pick up their children from two primary schools nearby.
“Here we have this garbage truck busy with its work,” he said.
He hoped the council would look into the matter seriously by telling the garbage contractors not to do their work during the rush hours.
