PAYING his 2015 assessment in full proved rewarding for Kam Seng Hor.
The 52-year-old factory operations manager won the first prize of the lucky draw held by the Seberang Prai Municipal Council for ratepayers this year.
He took home a Gintell treadmill worth more than RM3,000.
Kam said the win would be etched in his mind forever as it was the first time in his life that he had won in a lucky draw.
“I will use this treadmill for my daily exercise and encourage my wife and two children to use it too,” he said after receiving the prize from council president Datuk Maimunah Mohd Sharif at the council’s headquarters in Bandar Perda on Tuesday.
Maimumah had drawn the numbers for the top three winners.
Kam was among 50 people who won prizes in the lucky draw. Ratepayers who had paid their 2015 assessment in full during a promotion period from Dec 1 last year to Jan 31 this year were eligible for the draw.
Production executive Mohd Tajudin Zain, 52, rode home a mountain bike after he was picked as the second prize winner.
“I am very happy to win this bicycle which is going to keep me fit as I will be cycling every day for about one hour,” he said.
Third prize winner Saerah Bebe Ismail, who took home a Samsung Galaxy S5, said she would treasure the smartphone and use it carefully.
Other prizes included televisions and computer notebooks.
In her speech earlier, Maimunah said the council collected RM38.54mil in assessment from 37,443 ratepayers during the promotion period.
Apart from the lucky draw, those who paid up the 2015 assessment in full during the period also received two booklets of parking coupons on a first-come first-served basis.
Maimunah said it was the sixth year MPSP had held such a lucky draw to encourage ratepayers to settle their dues without delay.
