THE Perlis Islamic University College (KUIPs) is capable of achieving the objectives of Islamic education in the state, including producing human capital in Islamic-related fields, the Raja Muda of Perlis said.
Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail said KUIPs was also capable of producing experts who could guide Muslim society towards success and wellbeing in this world and in the hereafter while producing Islamic corporate figures based on syariat and muamalat.
“KUIPs graduates will also be trained to carry out research in Islamic fields using current technology,” he said when closing the Minggu Mesra Siswa KUIPs 2015-2016 at Putra Height Hostel Hall in Guar Nangka in Arau on Wednesday.
Also present were KUIPs rector Dr Mohd Mizan Mohd Aslam and members of KUIPs board of directors.
KUIPs, which was set up under the patronage of the Perlis Islamic Religious Council (MAIPs), began operations eight months ago.
It now has 159 students, 89 of whom are pursuing Muamalat Studies at foundation level, 55 pursuing Diploma in Islamic Banking and 15 others pursuing Bachelor’s Degree in Islamic Banking and Finance.
Tuanku Syed Faizuddin, who is also MAIPs President, said several new courses would be introduced this April.
These include foundation courses in Islamic Studies, diplomas in Syariah, Usuluddin, Islamic Studies and Islamic Property Management, as well as bachelor’s degree in Islamic Studies.
He called on stakeholders to get involved in helping KUIPs to develop its curriculum and improve the students’ soft and entrepreneurship skills, as well as in terms of sponsorship and industry placement.
At the event, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin also witnessed the signing of the memorandum of understanding between KUIPs and Yayasan Angkasa to foster smart cooperation in academic development, research and sharing of knowledge and technology. – Bernama
