Dior’s updated boutique juxtaposes a sense of heritage with a modern touch.
Christian Dior opens the doors to its newly refurbished flagship boutique today.
Combining 18th century details with modern elements to achieve a feminine and glamorous aesthetic, the interior concept of the redesigned space emulates Dior’s boutique in Paris by Peter Marino.
Customers walking in will be welcomed by Dior’s “World of Bags”, with a constellation of “StarLED” lights made with Swarovski Elements studs across the ceiling.
The luxurious marble flooring inspired by Dior’s signature “Cannage” quilting pattern reflects the quintessence of French aesthetics and the codes of Dior.
There is a dedicated space for timepieces as well as an area devoted to house fragrances.
Upon entering the ready-to-wear salon, there is a beautiful Swarovski crystal chandelier across the ceiling featuring art furniture by Laurent Chauvat and Vincent Corbiere. Adding to the glamorous effect is the Louis XVI-style delicately carved marble fireplace surrounded by an array of extravagant evening dresses.
The Fall/Winter 2014 collection will also be available in-store.
For this particular season, the collection reintreprets the House’s codes by looking through its history.
While a seductive femininity is still very much imbued in the collection, it is also emboldened by business suits.
Masculine tailoring make appearances throughout with peak lapels, double breasting and buttons which take the place of the traditional elements of the feminine tailleur.
Men’s shirting is also utilised for dresses with the use of nylon for a new form of cannage quilting that is cleverly constructed into gowns, with fluid, double-faced cashmere for cocktail attire.
With a focus that is “less about the leisure of the garden but more about the pace of the city,” creative director Raf Simons has certainly designed a collection that “present women with freedom and possibilities in the way they dress.”
