Women scientists work to change the world

Millions of people die from AIDS every year and I would like to prevent that by an earlier detection of the virus, says Dr Ruslinda

DR Ruslinda A. Rahim is on a mission; one that could save millions of lives. With her team at the Universiti Malaysia Perlis, she is developing a portable device that can be used for early detection of the HIV-1virus (that causes AIDS). This will enable patients to seek treatment early, hence slowing the course of the disease.

“The aim of my research is to help the medical field. Medical practitioners can use this device to detect HIV-1 on the spot,” shared deputy dean and senior lecturer Dr Ruslinda.
