Batik Air is strengthening its presence at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang (SZB), Selangor with three new direct services to nearby destinations.
The three places are Miri (MYY) and Sibu (SBW) in Sarawak, and Bali (DPS) in Indonesia, further expanding Subang’s connectivity to Sabah and Sarawak, and international destinations.
The new services will give travellers more choices to fly directly from Subang, complementing the carrier's existing international services from the airport while providing a convenient alternative for passengers who may otherwise travel through Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
Starting Dec 1, Batik Air will operate three weekly services from Subang to Miri and Sibu, while the Subang-Bali service will begin Dec 2 with four weekly flights.
The expansion reflects the airline's continued efforts to build Subang as an important gateway for both domestic and international travel. With an increasing number of services to Sabah and Sarawak, as well as to regional destinations, passengers can enjoy greater choice and convenience closer to the city.
The new domestic services have been introduced in response to the strong travel and business links between Peninsular Malaysia and Sarawak. Miri, an important centre for the energy and services sectors, attracts business travellers as well as visitors travelling for family and leisure.
Sibu, meanwhile, is a key commercial centre in central Sarawak, with established connections to business, trade and family travel.
As for Bali, the island has been a popular destination for many tourists, incuding Malaysians, for decades now.
Batik Air chief executive officer Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy said the airline is continuing to support efforts to revitalise and strengthen the airport’s role in Malaysia’s aviation network.
“Subang has an important place in the future of travel in the Klang Valley. As the airport continues to evolve, we see an opportunity to give travellers more choices by connecting them directly to destinations that matter for business, family and leisure travel.
“Batik Air is committed to supporting the continued development of Subang by progressively building a network that responds to how people want to travel. As we look ahead, we will continue to explore opportunities to connect Subang with more destinations and make the airport an increasingly relevant gateway for travellers in the Klang Valley and beyond.”
The airline already has services from Subang to several destinations including Bangkok (Thailand), Singapore, Jakarta (Indonesia), Penang, Kuching (Sarawak), Kota Kinabalu (Sabah), Kota Baru (Kelantan), Johor Baru and Langkawi (Kedah).
