With few choices of jewellery stores in the 1970s in Malaysia, local jeweller Poh Kong was the go-to place for young girls to have their ears pierced, for couples to choose their wedding rings or anyone who wanted to plonk hard earned money to invest in gold jewellery.
Poh Kong started as a traditional goldsmith store in Petaling Jaya in 1976 and today it has become the largest jewellery retail chain in Malaysia, with over 100 stores nationwide.
