Mixing cafe time and cats is always a winning combination, so Purradise Cat Cafe in Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Kuala Lumpur, is a lure all by itself. But when Jackson Galaxy, the famous cat listener rocks up to talk about this favourite subject – how to get along with cats from hell – the place is ultra-packed.

“I wanted to be a rock star,” Galaxy laughs. “When I was in my 20s, I took on a job at a shelter as I needed a day job. I was working as a musician by night and I wanted to do something brainless. I figured that working in a shelter, like cleaning up pee and poo and walking dogs, was perfect.”
