For Londoner Chris, going out for milk means opening his front door. There, a bottle of fresh semi-skimmed is waiting for him, ready for a cup of tea or bowl of cereal.

"I'm so glad that the milkman comes in the mornings again," he says. "After all, it's a tradition that's as much a part of us as a British breakfast."
