Hong Kong actor Patrick Tse died of pneumonia on July 16, just weeks before what would have been his 90th birthday on Aug 9.

His daughter, actress-model Jennifer Tse, took to Instagram to remember her father, sharing a series of family photographs spanning the years they spent together.

“Happy Birthday, Daddy. I really, really miss you…. we all really, really miss you,” she wrote in the caption.

Jennifer added that saying goodbye to her father was “the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do in my life”, but expressed hope that he was “happy and free” wherever he was.

She continued with a lighter, affectionate touch to her tribute, writing: “I’m sure wherever you are, it’s so bright and beautiful that wearing sunglasses all the time is totally normal.”

The 43-year-old thanked her father for being “such a big part of who I am” before ending the message with: “Rest peacefully, Daddy. I love you. Always.”

The photographs showed father and daughter sharing a meal, scuba diving and even wearing matching outfits, while other images captured him in his famed sunglasses.

One of the photos also featured Tse with Jennifer’s partner, Matthew Milne, and their daughter.

Jennifer, the younger sister of singer and actor Nicholas Tse, lives in Canada with Milne and two children.

Her emotional tribute drew an outpouring of messages from fans and fellow Hong Kong celebrities.

Actress Liza Wang, who is also Jennifer’s godmother, commented that she misses Patrick Tse too.

Singer-actress Joey Yung, former TVB actress Ankie Beilke and singer Kary Ng were among others who left messages of support.
