Renowned Hong Kong actors Louis Koo and Jessica Hsuan have long been admired for their chemistry – both on and off screen.

While both have consistently denied being in a romantic relationship, fans continue to enjoy their bond and often imagine them as a couple, though some take it a step too far.

The pair were recently seen at the 2026 Hong Kong Film Awards, joined by their Back To The Past co-star Sonija Kwok.

During the event, international media captured photos of Koo, 55, holding Kwok's hand as he helped her down a flight of stairs – a simple gesture of courtesy.

However, the moment sparked backlash from some overzealous fans of the Koo-Hsuan pairing, who flooded Kwok's social media with abusive remarks, including accusations labelling her a "homewrecker".

Responding to the malicious comments, Kwok reiterated that she has no intention of competing for attention or recognition, saying she has "always supported the idols everyone loves".

"I also really love my Back To The Past team. Everyone is so loving. I don't want or need to compete for anything," the 51-year-old added.

Her manager Gary also issued a statement clarifying the moment, explaining that Koo was simply being courteous and helping Kwok as she had difficulty walking down the stairs in a tight-fitting gown and high heels.

"Sonija struggled to descend the stairs on her own as her dress was quite tight. She nearly fell too… Louis's actions were purely out of gentlemanly conduct," he wrote.

Many netizens have since expressed their support for Kwok, stressing that she has no need to apologise or explain anything.

Others also condemned the overly fanatical individuals who failed to respect boundaries.
