Hong Kong action star Sammo Hung has sparked online buzz following a rare public outing with his wife, former actress Joyce Godenzi, at the 2026 Hong Kong Film Awards on April 19.
Hung, 74, cut a polished figure in a suit paired with a bright floral tie, appearing energetic despite relying on a walking cane.
Meanwhile, Godenzi, 60, who seldom appears in public, turned heads in a peach evening dress which complimented her slender physique.
Reports from Hong Kong media indicated that the couple – who married in 1995 – were in high spirits as they walked the red carpet and posed for photos.
Many publications also noted that Hung appeared noticeably slimmer and in better health – a marked improvement from April 2025, when he was seen in a motorised wheelchair.
For the record, Hung underwent knee surgery in 2017, and the procedure left him relying on a wheelchair and walking stick to move around.
In a past interview with Hong Kong media, the martial arts movie star credited his wife for helping him recover and maintain his health, saying: “My wife doesn’t allow me to eat much. I can eat fatty food but have to give up starch.”
