Some two years after pop star Justin Timberlake was caught drink-driving, US police have released a video of his arrest.

The footage, shared by several US media outlets on Saturday, shows the singer performing a walk-and-talk test, in which he is required to walk along an imaginary line.

The singer is also required to balance on one leg. During this, the 45-year-old repeatedly loses his balance. He tells the police he is nervous and that the tests are quite difficult. The officers then handcuff him.

A woman, who identifies herself to the police as a friend of Timberlake’s, tries unsuccessfully to persuade the officers not to arrest the singer.

Timberlake had previously attempted to prevent the release of the footage captured by the police body camera, a lawyer for the Sag Harbor municipality confirmed to dpa.

The incident took place in mid-June 2024 in Sag Harbor in the Hamptons, around 150km east of New York City.

Timberlake was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

According to a police report, he failed to stop at a stop sign. A police officer stated in a court document that Timberlake’s breath smelled strongly of alcohol.

Broadcaster CNN reported that the musician was ordered to carry out 25 hours of community service and pay a fine of US$500. His driving licence was also to be suspended for 90 days.
