Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky welcomed US actor Sean Penn to his official residence in Kiev on Monday.

"Sean, thanks to you, we know what a true friend of Ukraine is.

You have stood with Ukraine since the first day of the full-scale war," Zelensky wrote on X. "This is still true today."

He recalled that Penn had been in Kiev as early as the first days of the war in February 2022.

"And we know that you will continue to stand with our country and our people," the Ukrainian leader added.
