Miss Jamaica Gabrielle Henry gave fans an update Friday (Feb 13) on her recovery, nearly three months after her devastating fall at the Miss Universe pageant.

In November, the beauty queen was carried off on a stretcher after falling off the stage during the Miss Universe preliminary evening gown competition.

After the fall, the Miss Universe Organization confirmed that Henry had been hospitalised for several injuries including a fracture and an intracranial hemorrhage.

On Friday, Henry took to Instagram to share how she’s progressing, saying the season has “redefined restoration and renewal” for her.

“At a time when I wanted only to represent Jamaica at my fullest, I faced the most unexpected injury of my life,” Henry reflected, saying the fall “shifted everything.”

Despite the devastating setback, the 28-year-old says the experience has pushed her to “uncover a depth of strength you did not know you possessed. My greatest strength has been in choosing to rise, even while I am still on the journey.”

Henry shared the message along with photos of herself in a hospital bed and another of her pedalling on a stationary bike, while expressing gratitude to the medical teams guiding her recovery process.

“From neurosurgeons and neurologists to nurses and physiotherapists, in Thailand and in Jamaica, each has played a vital role,” she wrote. “It takes intention to stand beside someone at their lowest point and help them move, step by step, toward their highest.”

Ending her post on an uplifting note, Henry says, “May this chapter, and the work still being done within it, stand as a testament to resilience and resolve.” – New York Daily News/Tribune News Service
