Russell Brand, charged earlier this year with raping multiple women, spoke out against ex-wife Katy Perry’s new beau, former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

The 50-year-old Forgetting Sarah Marshall star was speaking at a Turning Point USA event in Phoenix Thursday (Dec 18) when he weighed in on the budding romance, People reports.

“Look, Katy Perry, I was married to her. I love her still, and I’m glad that her mum’s in the room to hear me say this, but look. I was OK with Orlando Bloom, but Justin Trudeau? C’mon, man! Don’t put me in a category with that guy! That globalist stooge,” said Brand, who infamously initiated his divorce from Perry by text message.

Back in April of this year, Brand was charged in his native Britain with one count of rape, one count of indecent assault, one count of oral rape and two counts of sexual assault, in connection with incidents between 1999 and 2005. He pleaded not guilty in May.

Despite all the love Brand ostensibly has for Perry, she told Vogue in 2013 that she hadn’t “heard from him since he texted me saying he was divorcing me December 31, 2011.”

She eventually moved on with Pirates Of The Caribbean alum Bloom, 48, embarking on an on-off romance for nine years. Though the two got engaged in 2019 and welcomed daughter Daisy Dove in summer 2020, the pair called it quits earlier this year – with their reps confirming the news in early July.

She and 53-year-old Trudeau were seen on a “dinner date” later in the month and went Instagram official earlier this month after months of sightings and sources dishing on their connection. – New York Daily News/Tribune News Service
