Malaysian actress Uqasha Senrose has shocked fans after claiming that she had endured domestic abuse during her four-year marriage to actor Kamal Adli.

In an interview with mStar, The Star’s Malay-language news portal, Uqasha said she stayed silent all these years to protect her husband’s reputation.

However, mounting pressure has compelled the 33-year-old to speak out.

“I wanted to split on good terms because I didn’t want to reveal the truth. I wanted to protect his image, but he physically, verbally and mentally abused me. He hit me even though I was pregnant,” she claimed tearfully.

Uqasha made the allegations following divorce proceedings at the Federal Territories Syariah Lower Court in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday (Dec 18).

The Perempuan Tanpa Dosa star also denied her husband’s claim that she had mental issues.

“If I was insane, I wouldn’t be taking care of our child on my own,” she said.

Uqasha added that she has photo and video evidence of the domestic violence she suffered at the hands of Kamal, 39.

She also showed a photo of herself with a bruised face, claiming it was the work of her husband.

She alleged that Kamal has a short temper and low tolerance, saying: “He can’t handle being reprimanded. Even when caring for the children, he shows no tolerance.”

Meanwhile, Uqasha’s legal representative Asheeq Ali Seth Alivi stated that the actress had already filed four police reports regarding domestic violence since early December.

The case is currently under investigation.

On the other hand, Kamal has strongly denied Uqasha's accusations of abuse.

He challenged the authenticity of the photo presented by her, saying: "Let the forensics examine the image. Was the bruise caused by a hit or did it happen while someone was defending themselves (from her)?"

Kamal also seemingly alleged that Uqasha herself had abused him, as per mStar.

"I also have photo evidence. There are (scars) on my body which can't be removed. I'm not afraid of the police reports because I truly didn't hit her," he said.

Uqasha filed for divorce from Kamal on Oct 1.

The pair, who married in 2021, share a one-year-old daughter Hawra Uqaira.
