Actress Moon Lau has been in the entertainment industry for 12 years now – and for seven of those years, she has been rumoured to be dating fellow Hong Kong actor and singer Adrian Chau.

Throughout this time, the 2013 Miss Hong Kong second runner-up has repeatedly denied the speculation.

As recently as September, the 36-year-old shut down renewed dating rumours after she and Chau were photographed shopping together.

At the time, as reported by Sin Chew Daily, she gave this reason for the photo: “We often go out for meals together, it’s nothing special. We are good friends.”

The rumour has resurfaced again as TVB announced the nominations for its Anniversary Awards 2025.

Lau is said to have received a nomination in the Best Actress category for her work in TVB's The Queen Of Castle. She will compete with with Charmaine Sheh for The Queen Of News 2 and her co-star Jessica Hsuan for The Queen Of Castle in the category.

In a recent interview with Hong Kong media, Lau said she’s taking the nominations in stride.

“Awards are about fate. What matters is seeing improvement in myself,” said Lau, who won Malaysia's Favourite TVB Actress three years ago.

As for her personal life, Lau has long maintained that she would only acknowledge a romantic relationship after marriage.

“My mum is very traditional. She gets upset whenever she sees gossip about me because she worries it might affect my career,” she commented as reported by Sin Chew Daily.

“She also feels that if I admit to having a boyfriend, every interview will shift focus away from my work. Since she's made her feelings clear, of course I have to respect her.”

Her father, she added, is the complete opposite: “Whether I marry, don’t marry or choose whoever I choose, he just wants me to be healthy and happy.”

And what about Chau’s thoughts on this arrangement? According to the report, Lau simply said: “There’s nothing to accept or not accept – my mum’s word wins every time.”
