English actress Sophie Turner and Coldplay’s frontman Chris Martin are said to be dating, American entertainment news site Us Weekly reported on Nov 3.

The 29-year-old star of the hit fantasy series Game Of Thrones (2011 to 2019) and the 48-year-old singer of the British rock band have reportedly gone on a few secret dates in London.

Insiders told the publication that while the budding romance is “very new”, the couple have “a lot of chemistry, and there’s a definite spark between them”.

Quoting sources, Us Weekly said Turner and Martin were acquainted years ago through mutual friends in the music industry when she was still married to American singer-musician Joe Jonas.

Us Weekly added the pair bonded over being British and their love for music. It added that Turner had been a big fan of Martin and his music long before they first met, and she reportedly also had a crush on him.

She broke up with British aristocrat Peregrine Pearson, 31, in late September after an on-off relationship that started in December 2023.

She was married to Jonas, 36, from May 2019 and news of the breakdown of their marriage began in September 2023. Their divorce was finalised in September 2024. They share two daughters aged five and three.

Martin was back on the market after splitting from American actress Dakota Johnson, 35, in June after almost eight years together.

He has two children – daughter Apple, 21, and son Moses, 19 – with his ex-wife, American actress Gwyneth Paltrow. They split up in March 2014 after 11 years of marriage.

Turner can next be seen as adventurer and archaeologist Lara Croft in the upcoming Tomb Raider series.

Martin is currently on a break from Coldplay’s Music Of The Spheres world tour that begun in 2022. He recently revealed that their concerts will make a comeback in 2027 with 138 shows. – The Straits Times/Asia News Network
