Late Limp Bizkit bassist Sam Rivers was found dead in a blood-stained bathroom earlier last month, according to a new report on Oct 30.

Per a recording of the 911 call obtained by TMZ, a woman identified only as Keely told a dispatcher she discovered Rivers “face first in a pile of blood” in a bathroom at his Florida home.

She can be heard attempting to perform CPR during the call as she sobs into the phone.

Responding officers from the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Department also performed CPR before paramedics arrived and pronounced Rivers dead.

The 48-year-old musician appeared to have a cut above his eye, suggesting he may have suffered a fall, according to an incident report also obtained by TMZ.

A deputy noted Rivers’ face and neck were blue – common symptoms of a pulmonary embolism, a blood clot that blocks and stops blood flow to the lungs. However, his cause of death has still not been determined. It was previously reported that Rivers was under medical care at home at the time of his death.

According to the incident report, Keely told deputies that Rivers underwent a liver transplant in 2018 and was taking related medication. He temporarily left Limp Bizkit in 2015 after developing liver disease from years of excessive drinking.

“I had to leave Limp Bizkit in 2015 because I felt so horrible, and a few months after that I realised I had to change everything because I had really bad liver disease,” Rivers told author Jon Wiederhorn for his book Raising Hell.

“I got treatment for the alcohol and got a liver transplant, which was a perfect match,” he said. He returned to the band in 2018, the same year as his transplant.

Rivers co-founded Limp Bizkit in the 1990s alongside frontman Fred Durst. Several of the band’s songs have seen a recent surge in streams, including 1999’s Break Stuff, which topped Billboard’s Hot Hard Rock Songs list just this week.

As of Oct 30, Limp Bizkit was still slated to embark on their Central and South American Gringo Papi tour, kicking off Nov 29 in Mexico City. The seven-date, seven-country tour is scheduled to end Dec 20 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. – New York Daily News/Tribune News Service
