American actors Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck appeared together on the red carpet at the New York City premiere of musical thriller Kiss Of The Spider Woman on Oct 6.

The couple, whose divorce was finalised in February, posed for photos on the red carpet, with Affleck putting his arm around her waist.

Lopez, 56, stars in the film based on the award-winning musical of the same name, which ran from 1992 to 1993 on West End and Broadway. Affleck, 53, is an executive producer on the film through his company Artists Equity.

Entertainment outlet People reported that Lopez thanked her former husband in a speech introducing the film. “Thank you so much, thank you everybody for being here tonight. Thank you, Ben, this movie wouldn’t have been made without Ben and without Artists Equity.”

The singer-actress referenced their divorce in an interview with American TV show Today on Oct 6 about making the film, which she said was a healing experience.

“It’s funny, the movie is about escapism,” she said. “It’s about how movies and art save us in the hardest times of our lives. Doing this project was such a dream come true that it really got me through, to kind of survive a moment that was difficult in my personal life as well.”

Lopez and Affleck were in a high-profile relationship after meeting in 2001 on the set of romantic comedy Gigli. They got engaged in 2002, but broke off the engagement in 2004.

They reunited as a couple in 2021 and got married in 2022. Lopez filed for divorce in 2024, citing irreconcilable differences.

Affleck has three children with American actress Jennifer Garner. They were married from 2005 to 2018.

The marriage with Affleck was the fourth for Lopez. She was married to Cuban actor Ojani Noa from 1997 to 1998, American dancer-actor Cris Judd from 2001 to 2003 and American singer Marc Anthony from 2004 to 2014. She has a pair of twins from her marriage with Anthony. – The Straits Times/Asia News Network
