Film star Arnold Schwarzenegger, 78, took up the conductor's baton at the world-famous Oktoberfest in the southern German city of Munich.

The prominent visitor from the United States conducted the band and the singing crowd in one of large festival tents on Friday (Sept 26) evening – and visibly enjoyed himself.

Afterwards, the former governor of California took selfies with the musicians.

Schwarzenegger was accompanied by his partner Heather, 50, son Christopher, 28, and host Siegfried Able.

It was not the first visit by the native Austrian to the world's largest folk festival, and the "Terminator" was also not taking up the conductor's baton in the Marstall tent for the first time. – dpa
