Cha Hyun-seung, an entertainment personality known for his appearance on the dating show Single’s Inferno and a dancer of Sunmi, opened up about his battle with leukemia while vowing that he will overcome his health battle.

Cha took to his Instagram page on Saturday, Sept 27, to reveal that he was diagnosed with leukemia last June. The post contained photos of the entertainment personality — who now has a bald head — while staying at the hospital.

“Good afternoon, this is Cha Hyun-seung. In early June, my life came to a halt for a moment after I was rushed to the [emergency room],” he began in Korean.

“I passed all final auditions for the projects that I wanted to do, and was running toward my dreams. However, [receiving] a diagnosis of leukemia stopped everything.”

Cha admitted that his diagnosis was initially hard to accept, and that he “couldn’t inform anyone” about it.

“Fear and confusion filled my days. Now that some time has passed, I think I’m ready to speak honestly about this. I am currently receiving treatment, and I have been silently fighting battles every day,” he said.

While Cha is aware that he has a “long way ahead,” he is hopeful that he will overcome his condition.

“My dreams and passion are still alive, and I am still holding on while waiting for the day I will stand on stage and in front of the camera again,” he said. “From the bottom of my heart, I am sincerely grateful to everyone who has supported me, whether they knew [about it] or not. I will overcome this. I will be back stronger and warmer. I will practice hope.”

The comments section of Cha’s post was filled with supportive messages from his followers, including TVXQ!’s Yunho and Changmin, actor-singer Ok Taec-yeon, and KPop Demon Hunters star Arden Cho, who told him to “cheer up and get better soon.”
