Though he hasn’t been doing much acting lately, actor Jet Li has been quite active on social media.
The Once Upon A Time In China star joined Xiaohongshu last month and has been sharing regular updates with fans.
In a candid post, the 62-year-old revealed that he is often mocked for being a Singapore citizen.
The Beijing-born actor held US citizenship before becoming a Singapore citizen in 2009.
According to entertainment portal 8days, Li owns property in Singapore, and his two daughters with wife Nina Li Chi also grew up in the island republic.
“Some people will mock you no matter what you do – ‘Oh, the Singapore actor is back,’ or say things like, ‘Trying to ride the wave again.’ It’s very normal. They just enjoy doing it,” Li said of netizens who leave such comments on his social media.
The actor said he is unfazed by these remarks and doesn’t expect everyone to be a fan.
He then joked: “There are three people at home who aren’t my fans – including my two younger daughters. They hear me talk nonsense at home all the time. There’s no way they would want to follow me on social media too. Totally normal.”
The younger daughters he was referring to are Jane, 25, and Jada, 22. Li also has two older daughters, Si Li and Taimi Li, who are in their 30s, from his first marriage to former actress Huang Qiuyan.
