Tving’s hit original series Yumi's Cells is returning for a third season.

Set to premiere in the first half of 2026, the upcoming installment arrives three years after the second season wrapped, reuniting fans with actor Kim Go-eun as the series' main lead, Yumi.

Director Lee Sang-yeob and writers Song Jae-jung and Kim Kyung-ran, the creative team behind the first two seasons, are also confirmed to return.

Season 3 will pick up with Yumi having realised her longtime dream of becoming a writer, as she embarks on a new chapter marked by romance and personal growth.

“I’m honoured and happy to continue Yumi’s story, which so many viewers loved. As an actress, I think it’s incredibly meaningful and special to portray a single character over such a long period of time,” Kim said in a press release.

She added, “Through season 3, I hope to capture the various turning points in life that a more mature Yumi experiences. Since this journey began with Yumi back in 2021, I truly want to bring it to a meaningful close.”

Adapted from the popular Naver webtoon of the same title, Yumi's Cells debuted on Tving in 2021 and quickly became popular.

The series blends live action with 3D animation, bringing to life the anthropomorphised cells inside Yumi’s mind – a device that visualises her inner thoughts and emotional responses. – The Korea Herald/Asia News Network
