Malaysian model-actress Amber Chia was rushed to the hospital in the early hours of Sunday (May 4) after collapsing and injuring her chin.
Although doctors confirmed she was otherwise in stable condition, the gash on her chin was deep and required stitches.
Chia, 43, later took to Instagram to update her followers, sharing photos of herself lying in a hospital bed alongside close-up shots of her bloodied injury.
“Suddenly blacked out – really sorry for making you all worry,” she wrote in the caption.
In an interview with China Press, Chia’s manager revealed that the supermodel collapsed around midnight on Sunday due to work-related fatigue.
Her 15-year-old son Ashton found his mother unconscious and immediately contacted her manager, who rushed her to the hospital and arranged for her surgery at 10am.
“I believe she fainted due to excessive fatigue from working. She will remain in the hospital for observation following the surgery,” said Chia’s manager.
This isn’t the first time Chia has collapsed from exhaustion due to her hectic work schedule.
In July 2023, she fainted while walking down the stairs and suffered a head injury that required stitches.
Chia began her modelling career in 2004 when she became the first Asian to campaign for Guess Watches worldwide.
Among the films she has starred in include I Love Wing Chun (2011), Hantu Gangster (2012) and My Mr Right (2015).
