English actress Elizabeth Hurley and American country singer Billy Ray Cyrus dropped a bombshell on April 20 when they unveiled their romance on social media.
“Happy Easter,” they wrote in a joint post on Instagram, sharing a photo of Cyrus, 63, giving Hurley, 59, a kiss.
They were leaning against a fence, with Hurley sporting a hat and Cyrus wearing a pair of bunny ears in a nod to the Easter holiday.
American actress Melissa Gilbert reacted to the post with the comment: “Wait... what?”
“How many of us were like WAIT WHAT when we opened the app and saw this?” wrote one fan. “I did not see this one coming.”
Another fan wrote: “Oh, who else totally did not have this one on their 2025 bingo card?”
Cyrus divorced his third wife, Australian singer Firerose, 36, in May after a seven-month marriage.
He is known for songs such as Achy Breaky Heart (1992) and In The Heart Of A Woman (1993). The singer was married to American manager and producer Tish Cyrus, 57, for almost 29 years before they split in 2022. His first marriage was to Cindy Smith from 1986 to 1991.
Billy Ray and Tish have three children together: singers Miley, 32; Braison, 30; and Noah, 25.
He also adopted Tish’s two children – actress Brandi, 37; and singer Trace, 36 – from her previous relationships. The singer also has a son, Christopher, 33, with former girlfriend Kristin Luckey.
Hurley is best known for her roles in spy comedy Austin Powers: International Man Of Mystery (1997) and fantasy romance Bedazzled (2000). She was married to Indian businessman Arun Nayar, 60, between 2007 and 2011.
The actress dated English actor Hugh Grant, 64, for 13 years before they broke up in 2000. She has a 23-year-old son, English actor Damian Hurley, with the late American businessman and film producer Steve Bing.
Damian Hurley seemed to be the only one unsurprised by the new relationship when he commented with a partying face emoji and a red heart emoji on her Instagram post. – The Straits Times/Asia News Network
