Actor Haley Joel Osment has been charged with public intoxication for allegedly skiing while drunk at a California resort, according to reports.

The former child star known for The Sixth Sense and a slew of other roles was arrested April 8 at a resort in Mammoth Lakes, TMZ reported.

Resort personnel called police around 2pm reporting “an allegedly intoxicated person” at the resort, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

The 37-year-old actor was being held by ski patrol staff when police arrived.

He was charged with public intoxication and possession of a controlled substance and released.

The substance was sent for analysis, and the Mono County District Attorney is mulling whether to prosecute, People reported. Us Weekly reports that a judge has already dismissed the charges.

Sources told TMZ that Osment has had a rough few months.

He was one of the numerous celebrities who lost their homes in the Los Angeles wildfires in January.

He fled the Eaton Fire with his dogs, passport, and family photos, New York magazine reported at the time, losing 500 records and a piano his parents had given him for his 18th birthday, according to the outlet. His parents also lost their home in the fire.

Osment has been living with sister Emily Osment for the past two months and is having trouble getting insurance to pay, according to reports.

The former child star has had brushes with the law before.

In 2018 Osment lashed out at McCarran International Airport personnel in Las Vegas when he was put on standby for a flight – and then told the next one was sold out when he returned.

He allegedly shouted at the gate agents, who called police, but left before officers arrived. An hour later he was back, yelling, “I’ll destroy you,” according to a witness.

Previously Osment was nabbed driving drunk after he drove into a pillar at age 18 in 2006, suffering several injuries, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

He pleaded no contest to DUI and was sentenced to court-ordered rehabilitation along with three years’ probation. – New York Daily News/Tribune News Service
