South Korean musician DJ Koo is mourning his wife, Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu, who died from acute pneumonia on Feb 2 – just days before their wedding anniversary.

On Thursday (Feb 6) night, Koo, whose real name is Koo Jun-yup, shared a message on Instagram expressing his grief.

"On Feb 2, 2025, my angel returned to heaven. I want to express my gratitude to everyone mourning Hsu," he wrote in both Chinese and Korean.

The 55-year-old said he's currently in a state of indescribable sorrow and pain, adding: "It's if my insides are being torn apart. I don't have the strength or desire to say anything."

Koo, a former member of dance duo Clon, then criticised certain individuals for spreading misinformation regarding insurance and finances.

"It's scary to think that such cruel people exist in this world. Can you please let Barbie rest in peace?" he lamented.

The musician added that Hsu's assets will be entrusted to her mother. He also said he will consult a lawyer to ensure no "bad people" touch their children's share.

At the end of his post, Koo paid tribute to Hsu and vowed to protect her family.

"The time I spent with Hsu was an irreplaceable and priceless gift. I believe that protecting the family she loved most is the last thing I can do for her," he concluded.

Hsu, who was 48, died after contracting acute pneumonia while travelling in Japan. Her ashes were transported back to Taiwan on a chartered flight on Feb 5.

Hsu tied the knot with Koo on Feb 8, 2022. They had dated in 1998 but broke up a year later.

In November 2010, Hsu married Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei, with whom she had a son and daughter. The pair divorced in 2021.
