Taiwanese singer Ella Chen, from the popular girl group S.H.E, returned to Melaka with her husband, Malaysian businessman Alvin Lai, to celebrate Chinese New Year.

On her Instagram Stories, the 43-year-old shared that the first thing she did after arriving in Melaka was to enjoy the local delicacies.

She highlighted cendol as a must-eat during the festive season, noting its name sounds like "abundance of wealth" and theorising that eating it will bring prosperity.

"During the New Year, you must eat cendol because it will bring 'more money'," she said in the video.

Chen also shared photos of traditional treats, including ondeh-ondeh, describing them as delicious but admitting she forgot the names of some other pastries.

The celebrations didn’t stop there. Chen posted a playful moment of setting off fireworks outside the family home before rushing back indoors to admire the display.

“I’ve been celebrating the New Year for several days now!” she captioned.

She also explored Melaka’s Jonker Street, soaking in the vibrant festive vibes.

Photos of red lanterns and New Year decorations accompanied her caption: “Melaka truly has a rich and festive atmosphere!”
