Selena Gomez has said “yes” to her boyfriend Benny Blanco.
The American singer-actress announced on social media late on Dec 11 that she and the American record producer are engaged.
“Forever begins now,” Gomez, 32, wrote on Instagram, sharing close-ups of her engagement ring and a photo of Blanco hugging and kissing her.
Blanco, 36, confirmed the engagement when he commented: “Hey wait... that’s my wife.”
The bride-to-be was congratulated by her celebrity pals, including American actress Jennifer Aniston, American rapper Lil Nas X and British celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay.
Gomez’s good friend, American singer Taylor Swift, wrote: “Yes, I will be the flower girl.”
Gomez also shared on Instagram Stories a clip of someone screaming on her mobile phone when she showed her left hand with the ring.
“Yes to this,” said the founder of American cosmetics company Rare Beauty.
Gomez’s engagement came after she was nominated on Dec 9 for two acting awards at the upcoming Golden Globe Awards on Jan 5: for the French musical crime film Emilia Perez (2024) and American mystery comedy series Only Murders In The Building (2021 to present).
Gomez and Blanco met in 2015 when he was one of the producers of her second studio album Revival (2015). They also collaborated on the joint single I Can’t Get Enough (2019) and her single Single Soon (2023).
The couple began dating in July 2023, before she appeared to confirm their relationship in December the same year on a fan’s Instagram post.
“He is my absolute everything in my heart,” she wrote in one comment, before replying to one fan: “Then why has he been the best thing that’s ever happened to me. The end.”
