Malaysian actor Frederick Lee made headlines on Sept 20 after announcing his marriage to his girlfriend of 10 years, Jess, who reportedly works in the information technology industry.

In a recent interview with Taiwanese media, Frederick’s older brother Christopher, who’s also an actor, revealed that he didn’t know about the marriage, only finding out about it online.

“He didn’t inform me! I only found out about it after I woke up and saw the news,” the 53-year-old exclaimed.

According to Frederick, 48, he did tell Christopher that he would register his marriage and hold a wedding banquet after returning from filming in Europe. However, he did not specify when.

“This is because in Malaysia, you are required to schedule a date to register your marriage, but I had not decided on it at that time,” said Frederick.

The actor added that he had initially wanted Christopher, who’s married to Singaporean actress Fann Wong, to be present as a witness.

However, he didn’t want to trouble Christopher as he lives in Singapore.

“If you had told me, I definitely would have come,” Christopher said before jokingly adding, “If you don’t inform me about the wedding, I will cut off all ties!”

Both brothers are set to compete for Best Leading Actor in a Miniseries or Television Film at Taiwan's 59th Golden Bell Awards on Oct 19.

Christopher is nominated for the legal drama Port Of Lies whereas Frederick has received the nod for his role in the series Night Blindness.

Despite the competition, both siblings, who were born in Melaka, said they will celebrate each other’s success. They also agreed to accompany the other on stage if either of them wins.

“Since the day we found out we were both nominated, we never talked about it on the phone. We only sent messages to congratulate one another,” said Christopher.
