Senegalese-American singer Akon will be staging a one-night concert in Malaysia on Nov 19.

The Akon Superfan Tour is scheduled to take place at Mega Star Arena in Kuala Lumpur.

Akon gained popularity in 2004 with his debut single Locked Up, and achieved stardom with the hit song Lonely the following year.

The 51-year-old R&B star also found success with his Grammy-nominated album, Konvicted, which contained popular tracks such as Smack That, I Wanna Love You and Don’t Matter.

Akon has also collaborated with many prominent names in the music industry – including Lady Gaga, Snoop Dogg, David Guetta, Pitbull and Gwen Stefani.

He is the first solo artiste to concurrently hold the top two positions on the Billboard Hot 100 twice and was ranked No.5 on Forbes’ 40 Most Powerful Celebrities in Africa in 2011.

Tickets for Akon’s upcoming concert, priced between RM288 and RM988, will be opened for presale on Sept 18, from 10am. General sale will be available on Sept 20, from 10am onwards at www.ticket2u.com.
