As Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck navigate their divorce filing, details are emerging about how Affleck’s alleged mood swings affected the couple’s relationship.

The 55-year-old Jenny From The Block singer reportedly spent a lot of energy trying to help her 52-year-old husband get through his darker periods, People Magazine reported, citing unnamed sources.

“She did spend a lot of time making sure Ben was happy and had everything he needed,” one source said.

“The way she cared for him was almost childlike. Friends constantly reminded her that she’s not responsible for his feelings. He’s very moody and dark at times. Jennifer appreciates life in another way. She’s very grateful for everything.”

The couple, who rekindled their romance in 2021 after calling off their first engagement in 2004, officially split when Lopez filed for divorce on Aug 20, citing “irreconcilable differences.” The date of their separation was later listed as April 26.

The difference in their personalities also contributed to their marriage difficulties, another source said, claiming Lopez is more comfortable in public and with socialising, while Affleck is more of an introvert and prefers to be at home.

The Air actor was also alleged to have mood swings with “big highs and big lows” that caused tension in their marriage.

“He doesn’t understand how his bad mood affects people around him. It’s just not fun being around that kind of negativity,” one insider explained.

Since the split, Affleck has been linked to Kathleen “Kick” Kennedy, daughter of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. However, a source close to Affleck dismissed the rumours, stating it’s unlikely the two even know each other.

For her part, Lopez is “relieved” with her decision to file for divorce, according to a source close to the actress. Those in her inner circle reportedly believe it was the right decision. – New York Daily News/Tribune News Service
