Suspected Taylor Swift stalker arrested at Eras Tour after Travis Kelce threats

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce can breathe a sigh of relief after German authorities at an Eras Tour show detained a man suspected of stalking Swift and making threats against Kelce.

On Wednesday, the 34-year-old American man, whose name hasn’t been shared publicly, had a ticket to the show at the Veltins-Arena in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, but was quickly identified before entering the venue and taken into custody. Police could not rule out that he posed a threat.

Authorities told the Associated Press that the man was detained “following tips from organisers of the event.” A local court ordered he be held until Saturday, which is the end of Swift’s tour in the city.

The man initially attracted attention when he made threats to Kelce on social media. But police emphasise that Swift and the thousands of fans were never in any immediate danger. TheKarma singer continued with her performance with around 60,000 people in attendance and had two more shows planned in the city.

This is just the latest of several instances of stalking Swift has had experienced this year. In January, David Crowe was held without bail after being arrested outside the singer’s home in Manhattan on three separate occasions. And a court order didn’t stop him from returning. He was later found mentally unfit to stand trial and taken to a psychiatric hospital.

Another man, Joshua Christian, was also arrested near Swift’s home in 2022 for buzzing her intercom and threatening her if she wouldn’t “be with” him. In 2019, a man named Roger Alvarado was arrested after reportedly breaking into her home, taking a shower in her bathroom and sleeping in her bed.

Swift told CBS Mornings she keeps “wound dressings” with her because of stalkers “who think we’re in an imaginary marriage.”
