Hong Kong actor Carlos Chan is set to embark on an exciting new chapter this month as he prepares to welcome his first child with his wife, singer Shiga Lin.

The couple, who tied the knot in April last year, is expected to welcome their baby on July 18.

Currently in Malaysia to film his new drama, Fearless, Chan expressed gratitude towards the crew for prioritising his scenes as he will be taking a week’s break from his busy schedule to care for Lin in Hong Kong.

“I do feel pressured and worried about missing my daughter’s birth, so I applied for this leave early on,” the 37-year-old said during a lensing ceremony attended by StarLifestyle in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday (July 10).

Although Chan has applied for a leave, he still feels a sense of regret as he knows he will miss the early stages of his daughter’s birth.

“I have to return to the set as soon as everything is settled to avoid affecting the shooting schedule,” he explained.

When asked by local media about Lin’s current status, Chan happily shared a video he recently took gushing over his wife’s prominent baby bump.

“She is becoming more and more like a pregnant woman. I believe if she goes out in public now, people will make room for her to sit,” the actor said with a smile.

Chan and Lin have been in a loving relationship for over three years, and their romance is one to be envied.

During a press conference after the lensing ceremony, Hong Kong actor Tony Wu described them to be a “very sweet couple”.

“We were playing games together when he received a video call from his wife. He quickly rushed out the room to FaceTime with her,” the 32-year-old said.

As first-time parents, Chan and Lin have taken childcare classes, where they learned how to carry a baby, bathe them and change their diapers.

Although he has made all the preparations, Chan admitted that he still feels nervous, especially about his baby’s health.

He also shared his wishes as a first-time father: “I hope (my daughter) will be healthy and do whatever she likes in the future. I also hope to spend more time with Shiga and my daughter.”
