South Korean actor Song Joong-ki is set to become a father of two, a year after his British wife Katy Louise Saunders gave birth to their son.

South Korean media outlet News1 reported on July 8 that she is pregnant with their second child and is focusing on prenatal care.

Song, 38, and Saunders, 39, have reportedly announced the good news to their families and friends.

The K-drama star’s agency HighZium Studio has confirmed the news to South Korean media.

“Song Joong-ki and his wife will be welcoming their second child,” it said in a statement. “We are unable to disclose the baby’s due date and gender as it is the actor’s private life.”

Song, who starred in the Netflix film My Name Is Loh Kiwan (2024), confirmed his relationship with Saunders in December 2022. The couple were said to have been introduced by a mutual acquaintance.

He registered his marriage to the former actress in January 2023 and announced her first pregnancy in the same month, in a letter addressed to fans posted on his official fan cafe website.

Saunders gave birth to a boy in June 2023 in her home town of Rome, Italy. Song announced the good news via his official fan club, sharing a photo of his baby’s tiny hand holding an adult’s finger.

Song’s first marriage was to South Korean actress Song Hye-kyo in 2017, after they played lovers in the hit military romance Descendants Of The Sun (2016). They divorced in 2019. – The Straits Times/Asia News Network
