Hong Kong actress Joyce Chen recently surprised fans when she revealed that she secretly gave birth to a daughter three years ago.

Rumours of her having a daughter surfaced on Tuesday (July 2), when she was photographed picking up a young girl from kindergarten.

The former TVB star confirmed the speculations the following day in a Facebook post, where she shared multiple photos with her bundle of joy and pictures from her pregnancy days.

“I should have announced this good news three years ago, but with many things happening back then, I didn’t feel like doing so.

“Day by day, it just slipped my mind,” the 47-year-old explained, adding that she is happy to revisit that joy with everyone now.

Chen also requested the media not to pry into the identity of her “other half”, sharing that he is a simple and private person outside the entertainment industry.

She also thanked everyone for their concerns after the news broke.

According to China Press, an insider acquainted with the couple told Hong Kong media that Chen’s partner is very attentive and caring towards her.

The source mentioned that Chen’s partner regularly drives her to and from places, and also attends to her by serving tea and pouring water during their meals together.

“They are a very sweet couple,” said the insider.
