Despite being a beauty queen, Malaysian actress Thanuja Ananthan admits it’s a struggle for her to find love in Malaysia.

In a recent interview, Thanuja – who stands at 183cm – said her height has made it difficult to find a partner.

“I find it hard to date guys here. They don’t dare (to date me) because I’m too tall.

“I’m actually not picky. I’m OK with anything as long as our mentality and values align,” the 38-year-old told Kosmo!.

Thanuja, who represented Malaysia at Miss World 2009, revealed that she’s currently in a relationship with a man eight years older.

The actress said she got acquainted with him eight months ago through a mutual friend.

“There’s someone special in my life now. He’s from London. I’m very happy and we’ll see where this relationship will go in the next year or two,” she said.

Sharing more about her boyfriend, Thanuja said she loved how understanding and supportive he is.

“He’s also an animal lover like me. I’m open-minded and outspoken. Not everyone is willing to accept a woman like me,” she added.

Thanuja further revealed that her boyfriend is now living in Malaysia, and they would travel together when she isn’t busy with work.

“We already have plans for a future together,” she said.

Thanuja gained recognition when she was crowned Miss World Malaysia in 2009.

She later ventured into acting, making her debut in the 2016 crime thriller Temuan Takdir.

Thanuja is set to star opposite Fify Azmi and Jojo Goh in Padu, which will premiere at cinemas nationwide on June 6.

The movie revolves around the Malaysian Women's Basketball team, which has won 13 gold medals from 20 SEA Games tournaments since 1977.
