Penang continues to solidify its reputation as a prime spot for foreign production companies.

On March 19, Hong Kong stars Samantha Ko, Charlene Choi, Gillian Chung and Joey Yung were spotted in town filming the second season of Girls' Spectacular Journey.

The travel reality show is hosted by Yung alongside Choi and Chung of Cantopop duo Twins. It is believed that Ko will be making a guest appearance in the upcoming season.

Penang tourism and creative economy committee chairman Wong Hon Wai welcomed the arrival of the four stars in a Facebook post on Tuesday.

He also shared a photo of himself with the celebs at the Pinang Peranakan Mansion.

“Today, I had the honour to interact with the filming team at the Peranakan Mansion, and led the distinguished guests to experience the uniqueness of Baba and Nyonya culture.

“Wishing the filming team a smooth filming process in Penang, and I also hope that their filming program in Penang will allow more people to know about Penang. Penang welcomes you,” Wong said.

Wong further revealed that the film crew took a cruise ship from Singapore to Penang’s Swettenham Pier.

Ko, 37, Yung, 43, Choi, 41, and Chung, 43, recently wrapped up filming in Singapore.

Netizens who were fortunate enough to catch a glimpse of the four celebrities aboard the cruise ship posted photos of them on Xiaohongshu.

Many welcomed their arrival and gushed over their beauty while others expressed hopes to meet them during their time in Penang.
