HK star Charmaine Sheh shocked after security stops her from signing autographs

Charmaine Sheh has been enjoying a surge in popularity in mainland China following her award-winning performance in the TVB series, The Queen Of News (2023).

The 48-year-old recently attended an event at a shopping mall in Shanghai, where she was protected by several bodyguards and staff members.

As one of Hong Kong’s most prominent actresses, many fans began snapping photos of Sheh while others requested for autographs.

Although Sheh – known for her friendliness – seemed happy to interact with them at first, things took a turn after a security guard interfered.

On Chinese social media site Xiaohongshu, one fan who attended the event said they almost got Sheh’s autograph.

In an accompanying video, Sheh – attired in a vibrant red dress and black knee-high boots – could be seen greeting fans.

Just as she was getting ready to sign autographs, a staff member waved his hand at the actress to stop her from doing so. He also made shushing sounds to halt the interaction.

As seen in the clip, the sudden gesture rendered Sheh speechless and unsure of how to react. In the end, she had no choice but to leave with her security team.

According to TVB News, a handful of netizens have left comments criticising the bodyguard for scaring Sheh. Many also found his actions to be unnecessary as the actress was already willing to engage with fans.

“Sister Charmaine already wanted to sign autographs,” one netizen pointed out.

Another said: “Is something wrong with this bodyguard? His actions made Charmaine scared. So baffling.”

“The security guard seems to have frightened Charmaine,” added another.
