Malaysian films shine on global stage in 2023 with Cannes win, awards galore and box-office records

It's always a reason to celebrate when works by Malaysian artistes get recognised internationally. That’s the case for two directors who achieved exactly that with their first film.

Amanda Nell Eu’s debut feature Tiger Stripes, premiered at the International Critics’ Week section of the Cannes Film Festival, where it became the first Malaysian film to win the grand prize for Best Feature.
