Hong Kong celebrity couple Anita Yuen and Julian Cheung recently made headlines after spending millions on a property.

According to reports, the couple – both aged 52 – spent HK$8.8mil (RM5.2mil) to acquire a unit in an industrial building in Chai Wan, Hong Kong.

It is understood that the 1,532 sq ft property is located on the 18th floor.

HK01 reported that the transaction took place on Aug 25.

The news portal also added that the unit was previously sold to someone for HK$6.9mil (RM4.1mil) in 2014, marking a HK$1.9mil (RM1.1mil) increase in value since nine years ago.

Real estate investment seems to be a popular trend among Hong Kong celebrities these days.

Last month, Hong Kong diva Liza Wang celebrated her 76th birthday by purchasing a HK$7mil (RM4.1mil) condominium in a commercial building in Kowloon Bay, Hong Kong. The TVB star previously acquired several units in the same building.

Retired actress Amy Kwok, the wife of award-winning actor Sean Lau, also bought an apartment unit in a popular luxurious estate in Pok Fu Lam, Hong Kong early July.

Meanwhile, popular actor Simon Yam – hailed as the "King Of Property" for owning more than 30 properties worldwide – was spotted purchasing a property in China earlier in June.

He has been investing in real estate since 1990 and owns properties in Hong Kong, Paris, Manhattan, London, Singapore, Beijing and Shanghai.
