American actress Jenna Ortega has broken her silence on the speculation that she is romantically involved with actor Johnny Depp.

Rumours of Ortega, 20, and Depp, 60, dating spread like wildfire after a celebrity gossip account with two million followers claimed that the pair were seen together – possibly working on the sequel of Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice.

The upcoming film will see Ortega playing the daughter of actress Winona Ryder’s character.

Taking to Instagram to set the record straight, Ortega dismissed the dating rumour as “ridiculous” and urged everyone to stop spreading lies.

“This is so ridiculous I can’t even laugh. I have never met or worked with Johnny Depp in my life. Please stop spreading lies and leave us alone,” the Wednesday star wrote in a recent Instagram Story.

Meanwhile, a representative for Depp also rubbished the dating rumours – adding that the Pirates Of The Caribbean star has “no personal or professional relationship” with Ortega and that he has never met or spoken to her.

“He is not involved in any project with her, nor does he intend to be. He is appalled by these baseless and malicious rumours that are intended to harm his reputation and career,” the spokesperson told NME.

Rumours of Depp starring in Beetlejuice 2 arose last June after his name appeared on the cast list on Google.

The speculation surfaced shortly after his defamation trial with ex-wife Amber Heard ended.
