Hong Kong actor Joel Chan, who has visited Penang three times, has expressed interest to invest in a property in the island as his second home, Oriental Daily reported.

At a recent event in Queensbay Mall, Penang to promote TVB's latest Asian entertainment channel, TVB Magic, Chan said that he would buy a house in Penang if his wife agrees.

According to the 46-year-old, the environment in Penang was good, with sunny beaches and a relaxing atmosphere.

"It's easy to communicate with people here and, more importantly, there are lots of yummy cuisines," he added.

Asked about what food he has tried during his stay this time, Chan said he ate char kuay teow and prawn noodles.

The TVB star added that he wanted to try the Nyonya cuisine, bak kut teh and seafood in Penang.

"I also want to try durian and bring back some Red Prawn durian for my wife," he said.

Chan said that he hopes to participate in the Penang Bridge International Marathon in the future.

"I heard about (the event) a few years ago but dared not sign up as I had no time to practise running due to my busy filming schedule," he said.

Penang has long been an ideal destination for Hong Kong stars.

Among the celebrities who bought properties in the state include actors Philip Keung, Hugo Ng and Dickson Lee.

Other stars who have also expressed their love for Penang include Aaron Kwok, Bosco Wong and Ruco Chan.
