Hong Kong actor Nicholas Tse was reported to have ended his nine-year relationship with Chinese singer Faye Wong recently.

On Wednesday morning (July 12), a report claimed that Tse, 42, and Wong, 53, have broken up amicably after realising they were incompatible.

The report added that the celebrity couple have not yet announced the matter to the public as they were busy, with Tse filming some shows and Wong travelling abroad.

The news quickly circulated on Weibo and the tag "Hong Kong media reveals Faye Wong and Nicholas Tse have broken up" shot to the top of the platform's Hot Search list at noon.

Later that evening, Ming Pao Daily reported that when Tse was asked by reporters to comment on the matter, the actor responded: "Stop messing with us from time to time, OK? Go away."

This isn't the first time Tse and Wong quashed rumours they have broken up.

Earlier in March, the pair was spotted holding hands at a Chinese airport before flying to Hong Kong. This public display of affection came days after rumours of their split went viral on Weibo.

Tse and Wong started dating in the late 1990s but separated in 2002.

Wong then went on to marry Chinese actor Li Yapeng in 2005 and has a daughter with him while Tse tied the knot in 2006 with Hong Kong actress Cecilia Cheung, with whom he has two sons.

However, their marriages did not work out; Tse and Cheung divorced in 2011 while Wong and Li divorced in 2013.

Tse and Wong started seeing each other again in 2014 and has since kept their relationship low profile. They are also seldom seen together in public.
