Malaysian rapper Bunga is the support act for Coldplay's upcoming KL concert

The support act for British rock band Coldplay’s upcoming concert in Kuala Lumpur has officially been revealed.

In a statement from concert organiser Live Nation, it is stated that local rapper Bunga will be the opening act for Coldplay’s Nov 22 concert at National Stadium Bukit Jalil.

Support acts for the group’s upcoming shows in Tokyo (Yoasobi), Kaohsiung (Accusefive) and Jakarta (Rahmania Astrini) have also been unveiled.

Bunga, whose real name is Noor Ayu Fatini, kickstarted her music career after emerging as one of the finalists in 16 Baris – an online hip-hop freestyle competition spearheaded by local rap star Joe Flizzow.

Known for staging incredible rap performances, the 23-year-old made global headlines after the New York Times, and several international media outlets, dubbed her the first hijabi rapper.

Since signing to Warner Music Malaysia in 2019, Bunga has released multiple hits including Mereng, Amaran and Intan Payung – where she collaborated with the nation’s Queen Of Ethnic Pop, Noraniza Idris.

To expand her repertoire, the talented artiste has also dabbled in some acting. She made her acting debut in 2020 with the telefilm Aku, Bunga.

Last year, Bunga collaborated with R&B singer Pink Sweats for the song, I Feel Good. She performed the track with the American artiste during his set at the Good Vibes Weekender event last September.

Coldplay announced today (Jan 12) that it will be performing for four nights in Singapore. The Grammy-winning band will also be playing in Manila and Bangkok on Jan 19 and Feb 3 respectively.

General tickets to Coldplay’s upcoming concert in Kuala Lumpur sold out in over three hours after going on sale in May, showcasing the band’s extraordinary demand in the country.

However, many fans were left dissatisfied after scalpers re-sold tickets on unauthorised websites at exorbitant prices.

Many have since rallied on social media to request additional concert dates from the rock band after being left in the cold in the rush to buy tickets for the upcoming gig.

Since the first Music Of The Spheres World Tour date in March 2022, Coldplay has sold over seven million tickets – the most for any tour over the last two years.

The tour has also received rave reviews from fans and critics alike, picking up various accolades including Favourite Touring Artist at the 2022 American Music Awards and Tour Of The Year at the 2023 iHeartRadio Awards.
