Robert De Niro, 79, is thrilled to hear that his actor pal Al Pacino will soon be a father at the age of 83.

“Listen, Al Pacino (is about to have a baby) and he’s a few years older than me. God bless him ... I’m very happy for him,” De Niro said on Thursday (June 1) when he appeared on the US morning show, Today.

Both Oscar winners have worked together in 1995 film Heat as well as 2019 drama The Irishman.

Early last month, De Niro revealed to media that he and his 45-year-old girlfriend, Tiffany Chen, welcomed a daughter by the name of Gia Virginia Chen-De Niro. This is De Niro's seventh child.

When the actor was asked how he felt being a father to a newborn baby, he replied: “At this stage and age? It feels great.”

He added that he and Pacino welcoming babies at their ages is amazing and he's very happy about it.

According to LA Times, De Niro told ET Canada that he has a loving but stern parenting style.

“I mean, there’s no way around it with kids. I don’t like to have to lay down the law and stuff like that. But (sometimes) you just have no choice.

“And any parent, I think, would say the same thing. You always want to do the right thing by the children and give them the benefit of the doubt, but sometimes you can’t.”

On Tuesday (May 30), TMZ broke the news that Pacino and his 29-year-old girlfriend Noor Alfallah are expecting a baby. The Kuwaiti-American movie producer Noor is said to be eight months pregnant.

Pacino has three grown children from previous relationships.
