Hong Kong actor Carlos Chan is about to walk down the aisle with singer Shiga Lin on April 24, and the wedding is going to be a lavish one.

Chan has set aside HK$3mil (RM1.68mil) for the ceremony, China Press reported.

In a recent interview with Hong Kong media, Chan said he doesn't mind forking out a large sum of money if it meant his beau would have a "romantic and memorable" wedding.

The 36-year-old also added that preparations for the ceremony are in full swing and that it will be held at the luxurious five-star Rosewood Hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong.

HK01 reported that the expected number of attendees is close to a thousand, with relatives and friends present to witness the union.

It is also said that the reception will be done in two sessions – one at noon and another at night.

The noon reception includes a Western-style buffet reserved for friends of the newlyweds whereas a Chinese-style dinner is reserved for family members, relatives and other important people in the industry.

On March 26, Chan shared a series of photos on Instagram of the betrothal gifts he prepared as per Chinese tradition.

In the pictures, the room was filled with gifts including seven pairs of gold dragon and phoenix bracelets as well as baskets filled with fruits and cakes.

Sharing his thoughts on the tradition, the Ghost Wedding star wrote: "After days of preparation, I've finally delivered the betrothal gifts. I thought it would be relaxing but I was so nervous that I couldn't sleep."

Chan announced his engagement to Lin last June.
